Big Changes for 2024 and Beyond The 17th Annual Father & Son Golf Classic took place Saturday, July 16th at Butlers Golf Course in Elizabeth, PA. This event has proven to be one of the more popular events in the Pittsburgh region.
“Many ‘Father and Son’ events are strict about who can play. This event has had mothers, daughters, uncles, grandfathers and of course fathers and sons who have participated in this event over the years. For me it is important to allow any parent figure who wants to play with someone who is important to them,” said Golfer’s Lifestyle Magazine, Publisher, Tom Poljak.
Golfer’s Lifestyle Magazine has taken great pride in keeping this event at $79 (or less) per player for the past 17 years. Unfortunately, it has become almost impossible to find golf courses willing and able to allow us to have our event for such a low cost. Most of the better quality courses are completely booked on Saturday and Sundays for possible events. So, we decided to “Go Big” for next year and beyond. Our 18th Annual Father & Son Golf Classic is moving to the iconic Nemacolin and its majestic Mystic Rock Golf Course.
The event will still feature a skill prize on every hole for both the fathers and the sons. The event will also change from a two-person scramble to a father & son better ball event. Teams will still be able to play the event as a scramble, but will not be allowed to play for the championship. “We wanted to do something very special moving forward. With Nemacolin being private we thought we’d provide a venue that is very special. No place is more special in my opinion,” added Poljak.
