Bryan Deal, a retired Health & Physical Education teacher from Fox Chapel Area High School and former Assistant Football Coach at the University of Pittsburgh, never imagined that his love for Western PA golf courses would lead him to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This year, Bryan participated in the Western PA Golf Choice Awards, a new initiative encouraging local golfers to nominate and vote for their favorite clubs and courses. After nominating his favorites and casting his votes, Bryan was randomly selected from all participants to become the lucky Grand Prize winner.
His prize? The chance to play a round of golf at the prestigious Laurel Valley Golf Club next spring, an exclusive experience not available to most. “I couldn’t believe it when I was informed that I won a round of golf at Laurel Valley,” Bryan said. “To be able to play one of the greatest golf courses in the country is something that I can’t wait to do next spring.”
As a former Golf Coach for Fox Chapel Area High School, Bryan’s passion for the sport runs deep. Winning this contest, organized to celebrate Western PA’s golf scene, felt like a dream come true for someone who has dedicated so much of his life to both teaching and coaching golf. The Western PA Golf Choice Awards invited local golfers to nominate, vote, and support their favorite courses and clubs, with the top five in each category advancing to compete for the final honors.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to congratulate Bryan,” said Tom Poljak, Golfer’s Lifestyle Magazine publisher and creator of the Western PA Golf Choice Awards. “His name was drawn at random from everyone who nominated or voted, and his commitment to golf and the community truly reflects the spirit of this award. I look forward to joining him for his round of golf at Laurel Valley and we hope he enjoys himself and has an unforgettable experience.”
For Bryan, this win goes beyond just a round of golf – it’s an opportunity to walk the same fairways as legends, and to celebrate the game he loves.
