I couldn’t be happier to see Butler Country Club recognized by golfers in the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. In my humble opinion, this is one of the most underrated country clubs in Western Pennsylvania, and I always drop everything when I receive an invitation to play. You don’t truly understand how special this place is until you experience it for yourself.
Founded in 1904, Butler Country Club has a rich and storied history. The original nine holes were designed by Tom Bendelow, with subsequent redesigns by Emil Loeffler, John McGlynn, and Leonard Macomber, who crafted the back nine in 1928. More recently, golf course architect Ron Forse has made improvements to enhance the course’s integrity. The 6,708-yard, par-70 course is easy to walk and is meticulously maintained, providing an enjoyable and unique golfing experience every round. The layout offers a blend of challenges and scenic views that keeps golfers coming back for more.
Butler’s PGA Professional staff is dedicated to offering lessons and support on the course and driving range. The Pro Shop features a wide selection of golf equipment and apparel to meet all members’ needs, ensuring that everyone is well-equipped to enjoy their time on the links.
The clubhouse experience is equally impressive, offering delicious and locally sourced meals served in the formal dining room or on two outdoor patios that overlook the pristine greens. Whether enjoying a casual lunch with friends or a special dinner, the dining options at Butler Country Club create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all members.
A visit to the grillroom is also a must after enjoying a round of golf. I was pleasantly surprised to see it recognized as a favorite among golfers in Western Pennsylvania. This award highlights the genuine warmth and hospitality that the staff and members extend, making it a memorable experience that clearly resonated with voters.
