The 19th Annual Pittsburgh Father & Son Golf Classic is officially set for Sunday, August 17, 2025, with a 2:00 PM shotgun startand we couldn’t be more thrilled! This year, we’re making the event more accessible by hosting it at a more economical locationwhile maintaining the same level of fun and competition that players have come to love.
In recent years, securing a golf course for a weekend event at a reasonable cost has become increasingly challenging. While we were incredibly grateful for last year’s venue allowing us to play on Father’s Day during prime time, we also recognize that it was a bit costly for some participants. We respect that and we listened.
Enter Pheasant Ridge Golf Club and its general manager, Christian Knapp, who stepped up to ensure this long-standing tradition continues. Our publisher, Tom Poljak, shares a personal connection to this story. He was friends with Christian’s father, Eric Knapp, who passed away in 2009. “It’s amazing to see the same passion and excitement for the course that was dearly missed before Christian took over,” said Poljak. “It’s inspiring to watch Eric’s vision revitalized under Christian’s leadership.”

Who Can Play?
While the event is called the Father & Son Golf Classic, we welcome any parent figure (male or female) to bring any child (male or female) for a memorable day on the course.
A Tradition Rooted in Family
This tournament was founded 19 years ago for a simple yet powerful reason. “I was trying to find a way to play golf with my son Mitchell, who had little interest in the game,” said Tom Poljak, Publisher of Golfer’s Lifestyle Magazine. “Now, it’s incredible to see Mitchell love the sport, and I know this event has done the same for so many other families.”
Many father-son tournaments have strict participation rules, but ours has always been about inclusion. Over the years, we’ve had mothers, daughters, uncles, grandfathers, and, of course, fathers and sons take part. “For me, the most important thing is allowing any parent figure to share this experience with someone special,” added Poljak.
